This masterpiece is indisputably one of the grand master's crowning achievements. A decade had passed since Horta's very first Art Nouveau œuvre, and now – somewhat chastened – he turned towards a new trend. Doubtless weary of the convoluted decorations and whiplash designs that had made him famous, Horta envisaged moving on to something more sober and simple with this house.
